Is there a Port Washington restaurant you’ve been dying to try, but haven’t gotten around to visiting? The second week of October is your chance.

Restaurant Week returns to Port Washington for the fourth straight year, starting on Sunday, Oct. 7, and running through Oct. 14. The event, organized by the Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District, will feature 23 local restaurants each offering a three-course, prix fixe menu for $25.

Mariann Dalimonte, the business improvement district’s executive director, said she was inspired to start the event after she saw signs for a similar event in New York City.

“I saw ads for a restaurant week in the city,” she said. “So about five years ago, I pitched it to the board of directors, and they loved the idea so we ran with it.”

While Restaurant Week affords Port residents the opportunity to try a new restaurant, Dalimonte said the main idea behind the event was to lure those who live off of the peninsula.

“We want to have people come in and see what a beautiful town we have, and maybe they’ll come back another time and shop,” she said.

Of the 23 restaurants featured, three were not on the list last year. Salvatore’s Coal Oven Pizzeria is a new addition, while Brick Osteria returns as the newly renovated and remodeled 11zero50.

“It’s totally different food and it is so good,” Dalimonte said.

Also appearing will be LaMotta’s Restaurant, which Dalimonte said could not participate last year because if closed before the event took place.

The remaining 20 restaurants participating are Ayhan’s Shish-Kebab Restaurant, BareBurger, Bosphorus Cafe Grill, f.i.s.h on main, Finn Mac Cool’s, Frank’s Pizza, Gino’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, Hana, Harbor Q, La P’tite Framboise Bistro, Louie’s Grille & Liquors, Mi Ranchito Grill, Mojito Café, O’Hara’s Ale House and Grill, Port Thai Place, Sullivan’s Quay, The Wild Goose, Toscanini Ristorante Italiano, Wild Honey on Main and Yummy Gyro.

Each restaurant’s menu for Restaurant Week can be found at the BID’s website, portwashingtonbid.org, by clicking on “Restaurant Week” on the homepage. Discount tickets can also be purchased for shows at Landmark on Main.

The prix fixe menus will be available all day from Oct. 7 to Oct. 14 except for Saturday, Oct. 13, when they will only be available until 7 p.m.
