Roslyn Estates to better define backyards for ‘through lots’

Matt Grech

Village of Roslyn Estates trustees on Monday proposed a new local law to better define property on open lots that connect to two streets.

The law would apply to through lots, which have major roads bordering both front and back yards.

“Right now they have two front yards and no back yard,” Village Clerk Bryan Rivera said.

Rivera said trustees wanted to make the law easier for homeowners to determine what would qualify as a front or back yards for through lots.

The board set a public hearing date to discuss the proposed  law at the next board meeting on Jan. 11, 2016.

Also at the meeting, board members set the village election date for Mar 15, 2016.
