Candidates for school board elections in the Manhasset, Herricks and Port Washington school districts have been named.

In Manhasset, school board President Patricia Aitken is being challenged for a four-year term by resident Evan Mandery, a professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan.

Meanwhile, two school board seats are up for election in Herricks, with Tarantej S. Arora running against incumbent James Gounaris and Bhajan S. Ratra running against incumbent Henry R. Zanetti.

In Port Washington, board members Dave Kerpen and Rachel Gilliar are both up for re-election, and are being challenged by Port residents Adam Block and Julie Epstein.

Block is an assistant professor of health policy and management at the New York Medical College’s School of Health Science and Practice, and Epstein is a co-president of the Port Washington Parents Council who has also worked with the district’s Home School Associations.

The elections will take place on Tuesday, June 9, the same date as budget votes. Ballots will be mailed to qualified voters two weeks before the vote.
