Tribute bands to play Steppingstone

Saturday, July 20, Big Shot: Billy Joel Tribute Band returns to Steppingstone Park.

Named for the 1978 Billy Joel single, Big Shot is made up of New York musicians, with Michael Del Guidice leading the band. He is backed by the most dynamic and seasoned musicians in the industry. Together they are right on the money with their musical interpretation and accurate reproduction of Billy Joel’s music.

The show is packed with hit after chart-topping hit in a high energy, interactive stage performance. Aside from numerous uncanny renditions of Billy Joel’s music, they will also amaze you with songs by Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Beatles, Journey, Chicago, and many others including some of Michael’s original songs.

You can’t always get what you want but on Sunday, July 21 at 8 p.m., if you are a Rolling Stones fan, you’ll get what you need. In honor of the Rolling Stones’ legendary career and catalog of hits, the park district is presenting “Satisfaction: The International Rolling Stones Show,” which is a tribute to one of the most successful rock groups of all-time.

This year being 50 years of performing their special brand of bad boy rock ‘n roll, it will be a significant tribute, indeed.

This tribute act has been touring the world since 2001 and has played more than 1,800 Rolling Stones tribute shows. The real Rolling Stones have given the band their blessing. Mind you, that didn’t happen until 2006, after band members had paid their dues with the act for more than five years. But the past five years have seen this tribute band earning even more satisfaction, perhaps peaking in 2011 with its first full concert played with a professional symphony orchestra.

Chris LeGrand, the man strutting and singing as band leader Mick Jagger, stated, “It is very much a theatrical show.” He is joined by Jim Riddick as Keith Richard, Dom Lanzo as Ron Wood, John Wade as Bill Wyman and Wade Fowler as drummer Charlie Watts. So on Sunday, July 21 “Let’s Spend The Night Together” down at Steppingstone Waterside Theatre!

The performances are for Great Neck Park District residents only. Admission is free to Park District residents with a valid park card. Park cards will be checked when parking and at the gate. Each park card holder is allowed to bring two guests into the park, who must be signed-in. There is limited seating and it is recommended that show attendees bring along a blanket or their own chairs to sit on.

In case of rain, check cancellations.com or call Great Neck House at 482-0355 for location of performance. Either Great Neck North High School or the Parkwood Sports Complex will be the rain location, which will be determined based on type of performance and where it can best be performed.

Free bus service continues to be available to Steppingstone and return buses start 10 minutes after the show ends. Pick up the bus schedule at Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Avenue, at the Steppingstone Park front entrance or at www.greatneckparks.com

Just make certain that you have your current Park District park card with you, as you will not be able to enter without it. The bus is subject to cancellation or change according to public usage. Street parking in the Village of Kings Point is permitted as posted. Parking rules will be strictly enforced by the Kings Point Police. For the safety and comfort of everyone, it is requested that show attendees follow the direction of the park employees. For additional information visit our Web site or call 482-0355.
