A Queens man was arraigned Saturday for allegedly stealing from two North New Hyde Park homes last Thursday.

Nassau County police arrested Everton D. Augustus, 27, at his Springfield Gardens home at 12:30 p.m. last Friday after investigating the burglaries, police said.

Augustus allegedly first broke into a Blossom Lane house at 3:35 p.m. May 12 and took assorted jewelry, electronics and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

He allegedly entered another house on Evergreen Lane soon after and took more jewelry, police said.

North New Hyde Park residents reported seeing a police helicopter over the area Thursday afternoon.

Police confirmed they deployed the helicopter to search for the alleged burglar.

Augustus faces two felony second-degree burglary charges and is due back in court May 17.
