The Village of Flower Hill was named the third best place to raise a family in New York State, according to Niche.com.

Mayor Elaine Phillips said this rating is a “confirmation that our hard work and commitment to the residents of Flower Hill is paying off.”

Using information about public schools, crime rates, cost of living and family friendly amenities, Niche.com ranked Flower Hill as No. 3 on a list of 100 top places to live in New York, and No. 83 nationally.

“This extensive study confirms what we already know, that Flower Hill is one of the best places to live anywhere in New York state and the entire country,” Phillips said. “We are blessed to have good schools, safe streets and opportunities for people of all ages. Taken together, it translates to a really high quality of life for taxpayers and their families.”

Phillips, who is serving her third term as  mayor, is running for the  Seventh District seat in the New York State Senate in November.

“I’m thrilled that other people are taking notice of what we’re doing to make Flower Hill an even better and more enjoyable place to live,’’ she said. “This designation is confirmation that our hard work and commitment to the residents of Flower Hill is paying off, and I’m excited to take this message to the entire Senate district this fall.”

According to the company’s website, Niche was founded in 2002 by Carnegie Mellon University students as CollegeProwler.com and  provides reviews and insight from  experts to make choosing a neighborhood, college or K-12 school a more transparent process.
