A Westbury man was charged this weekend with driving while intoxicated with two children through Old Westbury, Nassau County officers said.

Rudit Santos, 50, was driving eastbound on Old Country Road in Old Westbury and failed to signal for a left turn, officers said in a statement.

During a traffic stop, officers said Santos appeared to be intoxicated with his 5-year-old son and 5-year-old nephew in the back seats of the Chevrolet Suburban. Both boys were released to relatives on the scene, officers said.

Santos is charged with two felony counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with children under 16 years old, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of operation of a vehicle without restraints and failure to signal.

During his arraignment on Saturday, Santos was held on $10,000 bond or cash by Nassau County First District Court Judge Joseph Girardi in Hempstead.
