The Williston Park Chamber of Commerce has not one but two new presidents heading into the new year.

Former Vice Presidents Eileen Devaney and Liam Patterson will take over the chamber as co-presidents at the chamber’s next meeting on Jan. 29.

Executive Director Lucille Walters will also be stepping down from her position in the chamber. She served in her position for 15 years.

Her tenure was challenging, Walters said, but she is pleased with the direction the street fair is headed and how it changed over the years. When the street fair started it took place on Willis Avenue and was much smaller, and over the years grew in size so dramatically it needed to be moved to Hillside Avenue, she added.

Though she has enjoyed her time with the chamber, it is time for others to step up to the plate, Walters said.

“Life goes on,” Walters said.

In her stead, the chamber will be looking for volunteers to help organize the street fair as part of a committee.

Devaney and Patterson will do an excellent job in their new positions as they have in the past, Walters said.

Devaney is the Director of S.E.E.D.S. on Hillside Avenue, a speech and education development service. Devaney has more than 30 years of experience as a speech pathologist, has worked in the public school system and has been in private practice since 1983.

Patterson is currently a financial adviser at Morgan Stanley.

The chamber’s next meeting on Jan. 29 will include the induction of new officers and discussion of the street fair committee.
