The Williston Park Little League celebrated the end of its 2018 spring season on June 23 at the annual closing ceremonies at Kelleher Field.

Little League Vice President Bill O’Brien, who is also a Williston Park village trustee, said it was a successful season for both softball and baseball.

O’Brien said there was better play on the field as the season progressed.

There was also a “tremendous amount of good sportsmanship,” across all divisions, O’Brien said.

At the closing ceremony, President Joe Manopella congratulated the players and thanked the businesses that sponsored teams.

He also thanked the coaches for taking time to teach the boys and girls.

The Little League board also thanked the mayor’s office and the workers who helped Kelleher Field look good all season long.

The night of the closing ceremony the Little League also held the third annual fundraiser at the American Legion.

Local businesses donated food and raffles.

The money raised goes to the league.

Williston Park Little League is currently registering children for the summer season and more information can be found at its website.
