WP Patriots team finishes season undefeated

It’s been a fun and exciting summer of baseball for the Williston Park Red Patriots who capped of their undefeated season last week with a 15-0 victory over Mineola. 

The team finished the East Williston Summer League with a 9-0 record.  The team averaged an amazing 12.5 runs per game while only allowing two runs. The team threw four shutouts (including two no-hitters) in the nine games and scored at least 10 runs in seven of the nine.

Some highlights of the fabulous pitching included Sean Hembach, William McCreery, Justin Bestler and Connor McCreery who did not allow any runs and pitchers Bryan Carlucci, Jerry Flood, Anthony Scibelli and Chris Lomando who only allowed one run all summer. 

Jonathan Salamone, Phil Arnold, and Cary Novick handled the majority of the catching duties guiding the pitching staff to their great numbers.

The team played outstanding defense, which included some amazing plays from Matthew O’Connell at third base and Jake David on first base.  Everyone on the team contributed with their bats including some great hits from Corry Meyn and Andrew Sarnel, 

Jack Flood and Michael Ciccone came out and helped the team when they were short players a couple of games and did really well.

To cap off the successful year, the Red Patriots played against the Williston Park Blue Patriots 10U team who finished their great season with a record of seven wins, one loss and one tie. 

The Red Patriots were down 3-0 after the first inning and feeling some pressure from the Steve Gilhooly Blue team. 

The Red Patriots then started to come back and finally on the back of a monstrous three-run home run blast over the deep centerfield fence by Carlucci, they took the lead and went on to win 13-6. 

The game was much closer than the score indicates and the Blue Patriots played a great game.  

Some highlights from the game by the Blue Patriots included great pitching from Andrew Lewis and Joseph Dellolio. John Sullivan behind the plate throwing out a couple of runners.  

Brendan Sullivan hitting two rockets and driving in most of the runs. 

The Blue Patriots received some great performances from the rest of the team in this game as well as all summer long during their 7-1-1 Season.  

Jack Riordan, Aidan McGuire, and Sean Pecora had some key pitching performances. 

Great hitting and defense by shortstop Jospeh Pasqua, Center fielder Quinn Gilhooly, Shane Mitchell, Kevin Meegan, Joseph Early, Keith Sherry and Stephen Poarch also contributed to the fun successful season.
