North High student newspaper takes top journalism awards

North High School’s student newspaper, Guide Post, received four top awards, including first place honors, at the Adelphi University Quill Awards for Outstanding Journalism.

Guide Post won first place for Best Layout, second place for Most Outstanding Newspaper and Best Page One Layout, and third place for Best Editorial, “Charity and Unity in Times of Trouble.”

“I’m very proud of our students,” said Edward Baluyut, faculty advisor for Guide Post. “This is the highest number of awards that our publication has won in the 15 years that we’ve entered the contest.”
