Templeton sells for $5.8M: Cornelia Guest

Socialite Cornelia Guest told the New York Post’s Page Six on Saturday that she has reached an agreement to sell her family’s Old Westbury home.

She told the newspaper that the 12,000-square-foot Templeton estate will be sold for $5.8 million, though she did not reveal the buyer.

“It is a bittersweet moment,” she said. “The house has been in my family for 40 years. There are many wonderful memories here. But it is too large for me, and I am excited to move into a new home.”

Guest, 50, is the daughter of polo champion Winston Guest and socialite C.Z. Guest. She was declared the Debutante of the Decade for the 1980s at the 1986 International Debutante Ball in New York City.

The house, which was put back on the market last summer for $7.495 million, has entertained guests from all over the world, including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, President John F. Kennedy, fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Yves Saint Laurent, artist Andy Warhol and author Truman Capote, a childhood friend of Guest’s.

Guest later went on to several professional endeavours, including acting, modeling and fashion design.

She has also involved herself in other philanthropic causes, including advocacy on behalf of animal rights.

Guest, a vegan, posed nude for PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign.

She also launched a vegan catering business in 2010 and published a vegan cookbook.

In 2013, she was featured on the second season of the Food Network’s “Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-off,” a competition series comprised of teams of celebrity chefs selected by Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri.
