It’s time for Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment

To his dismay, President Trump’s days in office are numbered. Regardless of anything he can say or do, he has to leave the White House on January 20th.

The swarming of Trump supporters on the capital building after Trump held an outdoor rally is more than enough proof that our sitting president is willing to rattle our democracy to its core.

President Trump’s reign was besmirched by impeachment, but sadly that stain on this sorry state of a presidency wasn’t enough to show that he has to answer to the American people. We are not servants of the president; the president is our servant.

He serves at the will of the American people and it’s clear and evident that President Trump only serves at the will of himself.

Vice President Mike Pence was the last domino to fall on Trump’s political hit list after he refused to comply with Trump’s demands of overturning the election, even though he does not have the power to do so. Trump cowardly demeaned Pence on social media, saying he didn’t have the courage to defense fabricated election results.

Regardless of the political strife that this will cause, Vice President Pence should invoke the 25th amendment, calling for the removal of President Trump on grounds of mental insanity.

The vice president himself can’t invoke the amendment without the backing of the Trump cabinet, but even the attempt at doing so is rightfully justified. It’s what needs to be done in order to show the world that America is and forever will remain a democracy.

Invoking the 25th amendment would essentially save the country from the final days of the Trump presidency, where anything but law and order is kept intact. This is only the beginning of a battle the American people need to wage on those who challenge the results of a democratically elected president.

For the safety of the American people and as a duty to those men and women who defend our right to freedom, Vice President Pence owes America this act of patriotism.

The rioting at the capital building proves that we’re not living up to what we are asking the rest of the world to be and that has to change now.
