Readers Write: Let Commish Lincoln finish what he started

The Island Now

The former Parkwood Complex director in an interview said that he has seen over the years staff, superintendents, and commissioners coming and going.

Being a very, very long time Great Neck Park resident, I too have seen the many coming and goings.

I am not a personal friend of Robert Lincoln, just a resident who enjoys what our special park district has to offer.

In the year 2000 Mr. Lincoln was elected just in time as our parks were becoming dilapidated with poor maintenance.

I don’t agree with Mr. Lincoln when he said “I still work as hard as I did the day I took office.”

He has worked harder and harder each year, never satisfied, always seeking ways to improve and give more to park residents, while always enduring that maintenance is top priority as well as keeping costs down with little or no tax increase.

He constantly thinks only of the community and what they would enjoy.

How to make programs for young and old, whether it be playgrounds, tennis, hockey, senior programs, transportation, the list goes on and on. To change now while we have many projects to finish and still looking to replace our Superintendent (Peter Rennick sadly will be leaving us come December), we will need a firm hand on the reigns.

Mr. Lincoln is also very involved in the Steppingstone Light House presentation, a night that has shone for decades.

As our 100th year approaches, let Commissioner Lincoln finish what he started.

Let’s keep the light burning a little longer.
