North Hempstead recognized for excellence in financial reporting for 7th straight year

The Town of North Hempstead was recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its commitment to strong fiscal practices. The town was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the seventh consecutive year for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended 2016.

The town was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial standing.

“North Hempstead is honored to once again receive this prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the GFOA,” said Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “Receiving this for the seventh year in a row shows our commitment to open and transparent government and fiscal responsibility.”

The GFOA’s mission is to enhance and promote the professional management of governmental financial resources by identifying, developing, and advancing fiscal strategies, policies, and practices.

The GFOA of the United States and Canada is a non-profit professional association that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
