What police were told was a hostage situation in Garden City Park Tuesday afternoon turned out to be a false alarm.
Nassau County police officers received a report of hostages being taken at a residence on Denton Avenue near Jericho Turnpike.
When officers arrived they made contact with the residents inside, who left the building safely, a police statement said. They found nothing upon searching the home.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident and the source of the call.
