To Judi Bosworth, North Hempstead town supervisor:

I discovered that you are a daughter of a Holocaust survivor when you spoke so eloquently at a Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) event on the Village Green in Great Neck.

I share similar sentiments with you as I was born to and raised in a family which lost relatives in the Holocaust. My father’s uncle, aunts, and several cousins who lived in Poland all perished during the Holocaust.

The validity of Steven Markowitz’s hateful e-mail, in which he advocated using a tactic to stoke fear and loathing of Orthodox Jews in order to win an election, has now been proven, thanks to an individual who shared his immediate response to that email (which was sent to 13 people).

I trust that you are as appalled as I am with the knowledge that Mr. Markowitz would resort to scare tactics and such vile language against a group of Jews in order to win an election as the chairman of the Holocaust Museum and Tolerance Center of Nassau in 2018. Didn’t the Holocaust start from similar issues?

You and Steven Markowitz are both connected to the Democratic Party. Certainly, it does not mean that you have to support someone on issues totally irrelevant to the party policies. It is my hope that you can stay totally isolated from this irrelevant issue and that you condemn the hate language and scare tactics which Steven Markowitz employed and probably was able to spread to some extent for the sake of winning an election.

The damage was done already. Your condemnation would certainly reverse some of the damage, if not all. At the least, such scare tactics and hate language shall stop for the future elections.

Greatly appreciated.
