Readers Write: Candidates forum a new way to serve

The Island Now

It’s all about  ‘We”!

This past week’s edition included an article stating that I will not re-election.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents for their support over the years for this very rewarding experience.

I would also like to state that accomplishments that were achieved were wholly due to the collaboration of the many talented people with whom I have served.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to work with four different mayors and 10 different trustees. I can assure you each one of them, contributed greatly to our special Village.

No one acts alone. This is our democratic foundation which leads me to the next “‘WE” issue.

I have always passionately believed in our system of government and firmly believe that we each need to be part of the solution by participating in the election process.

In order to do so, we try to inform ourselves to the best of our ability. On Friday, Oct. 27, the Williston Park Civic Association has partnered with the Albertson Civic Association to host a candidate’s forum for each of the county and town positions up for election on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

There arc 12 candidates who have accepted this invitation to present their position to you and answer your questions.

Doors open at 7 p.m. at the Albertson Firehouse on l.U. Willets Road.

I urge you to join me in this comfortable social setting and form your opinion firsthand about each candidate.

“WE” need to vote on Nov. 7.

Bring your friends and join your neighbors.

Several of our local shops have donated door prizes and refreshments will be served. “We” look forward to seeing you!
