Readers Write: Changing of guard at iconic frame shop

The Island Now

It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. After 20 years in the art and framing business, 15 of them at Trapani Art & Frame in Manhasset, I have decided it is time for a change.

I have owned my own business for almost 42 years and am planning a much-needed rest.

On the bright side, the gallery is not closing.

I searched far and wide for someone to take over the shop, which most of you know was much more than just a business to me. Effective Sept. 4, 2019, I am very pleased and proud to tell you that Trapani Art & Frame will be joining the J. Pocker family of fine custom framing.

Many of you have probably heard of J. Pocker.

For those of you who haven’t, they are a well-respected fine art and framing company that has been producing fine custom frames for over 90 years!

Their reputation for design and quality is well known throughout the art and interior design industries. Manhasset will actually be their fifth location.

To assist in the transition, I will stay on through the end of October. Please stop by to say hello to the new owners and bring them your next custom framing project. I know you will be very pleased.

In closing, I just want to let you know what a true pleasure it has been knowing each and every one of you.

You have no idea what a joy you made it for me to come to the gallery every day. I also want to thank you for trusting me and my staff with your art and family treasures.

I hope to see you before I leave.
