Cushing Media Group has suspended publication of the Floral Park-based weekly Gateway Bulletin News after 93 years. They hope to resume later in the year.
This is a loss for residents of Bellerose, Bellerose Terrace, Bellerose Village, Floral Park, Floral Park Centre, New Hyde Park, South Floral Park and Stewart Manor., Readers from these neighborhoods will have to look elsewhere for local news.
The Gateway Bulletin News just like other daily and weekly newspapers had to deal with increasing costs for newsprint, delivery and distribution along with reduced advertising revenues and declining readership due to competition from the internet and other new information sources.
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on advertising revenues.
