Readers Write: Critics ignore Trump’s successes, country’s health

The Island Now

When I read the column by Mr. Kremer and the letter by Dr. Sobel, I also felt compelled to respond. Both individuals should know that our choices were quite poor, and people made their decision for a variety of reasons.

Whether Mr. Trump is good or bad is a false choice and Mr. Kremer should know better. Personally, I prefer policies and results to be proud of, not personalities.

Yet, both writers seem to have a laser focus on the significant character flaws and proclivity to lie for our current president.

Mr. Kremer talks about the unqualified people in this administration.

Pompeo, who graduated first in his class at West Point and at the top of Harvard  Law School is hardly unqualified. His time in Congress and as head of the CIA have probably equipped him well.

General Mattis is a distinguished general, Nikki Haley has gotten accolades from both sides of the aisle and John Bolton has a stellar background.

Just because you disagree with them does not make them unqualified.

Do you have any factual backup on DeVos, Zinke, Kelly and Mnuchin to say they are unqualified or is it that they were appointed by Trump?

Your opinion seems to parrot left wingers dedicated to the “resistance”.

I prefer the results we have seen.

Deregulation has spurred the economy, lowered unemployment and greatly enhanced the stock market.

In fact, unemployment is the lowest in history for Blacks, Hispanics and women.

I would strongly urge Mr. Kremer and Dr. Sobel to respond specifically to the points I made in my last letter and this one.

These facts are unchallenged by any knowledgeable person. Can either of you tell me what customers are being cheated and what products are unsafe?

Admittedly, this president is a liar. Did either of you count the number of lies made by Obama and both Clintons?

        – Hillary was under sniper fire

-The entire Uranium One affair exposed by the NY Times

-The Obama red line in Syria. That lie has led to over 500,000 deaths

-You can keep your doctor and your insurance plan

-The Iran deal lie where Obama said Iran will never get a nuke. We now know they can abide by the deal and the sunset clause allows them to develop a nuke in 7 years

-Obama has brought us closer to war with North Korea with his strategic patience

This president is trying to denuclearize the Korean peninsula. Pretty good attempt in my estimation.

You may think that Trump;s lies are worse, but I would submit that the impact of the lies by Obama and Clinton had a much more deleterious effect on the country than Trump inflating the number of people at his inauguration. For me, lying about health care and the Iran nuke deal far outweigh Trump’s stupid lies combined.

Gina Haspel (not Hospel, Dr. Sobel) garnered only six Democrat votes.

If Clinton were president, she would have had the vote of every Democrat senator.

By the way, it is documented the Khalid Sheik Mohammed gave up the name of his courier which led to the killing of Bin Laden after he was waterboarded.

Did either of you complain when Brennan was confirmed as CIA chief?

He was in a policy-making decision when people were waterboarded. Were you silent? Were you silent when Comey and McCabe lied to Congress?

Do you even know Bruce Orr, Peter Strzok, or Lisa Page?

These are the corrupt senior level FBI executives.

Do you know the FBI lied to the FISA court to get permission to spy on the Trump campaign? I am sure you both rationalize this corruption because it was done against Trump.

You should be outraged at this blatant attempt to subvert democracy with this repugnant behavior.

If my students in college were tasked with writing about the negatives and positives of Trump and only pointed to his extreme personal flaws, I would have failed them for being nonresponsive and seeing things from an ideological narrative.

They would have exhibited a narrow-minded view and an inability to be objective. I would not wonder if they were brain damaged as you have, Dr. Sobel.

Are you trying to prove to readers that Trump getting a coveted 1-Y deferment for bone spurs has any relevance to what he has done as President?

Please let me know how it specifically reflects on his presidency.
