Readers Write: Dem agenda undermines Constitution

The Island Now

I have read and heard news commentators discussing that much ambivalence among seniors has been noted when it comes to who to vote for in the next election.

No one has addressed this issue with more clarity than Mark Levin, a respected, conservative talk show host, constitutional scholar and a lawyer.  Because I could never put into words his thoughts with such eloquence, I am going to quote him below.

“Are you prepared to vote for an agenda that undermines the Constitution, that undermines our economic system, that destroys our national borders, that expands welfare to illegal aliens, that destroys Medicare by lowering the age from 65 to 60 and puts so much pressure on the system that it collapses, indoctrination in our schools from kindergarten to high school that pushes the 1619 Project, that attacks the 1776 history of this country?

“Are you prepared to vote for a party that treats law enforcement and our military worse than shabbily and lets looters and rioters out of court to go back and loot and riot again?  Do you want to leave that kind of a country to your children and grandchildren?  Since when do we reject our Constitution, law and order, capitalism and honest Judges who rule based on law and not ideology.?”

We seniors have lived the life of love of country and patriotism and I want my grandchildren to experience that same feeling of pride when that flag goes by.

How about you?

Alvin Goldberg, a reader, called me out last week for my statements on the Supreme Court, the Electoral College and for being a “stupid ” woman who thinks the world is flat.  This stupid woman will try to educate the fine gentleman and respond to several of his ludicrous statements.

The first subject he mentions is Putin and Trump in a rambling, non-sensical collection of statements that must be related to the debunked and overly investigated Russian collusion fiasco that went nowhere.  He then, in the next sentence, appears to know that Amy Coney Barrett is going to vote to return the court to pre-Civil War days. Why he couldput the Long Island Medium, Theresa Caputo, to shame with his predictions.  Not going to happen.

Then he asks why President Lincoln freed the slaves.  He had to free them because your Southern Democrats (your party of slavery, segregation and Jim Crow) would not let them go without a fight.

Now, some facts on the Electoral College.  There are two senators for every state, giving us 100.  The House of Representatives is based on the population of each state.  California hasthe most at 55, Texas at 38 all the way down to the smallest number of three.  Mr. Goldberg then picks on the state of Wyoming with a myriad of negative facts about the state’s drug use, car accidents etc. and seems to suggest that they should have no say in electing a President because their population is only 578,000, so why should they have any say.  They only have three electoral votes.  It is the cumulative effect of all of the other smaller states that makes it fair.

Now according to Alvin Goldberg, the citizens of Washington, D.C. do not have the right to vote.  What? The 23rd Amendment to the Constitution allows citizens who live in D.C. to vote.  Puerto Rico cannot vote in our congressional or presidential elections. It is an unincorporated territory.  Now, if they are both made states, they would each get two    Senate seats and would probably vote Democratic.  The filibuster was put in place to give the minority party some voice in the Senate and there is no comparison with that concept and writing a letter to a newspaper with an opposing opinion.

The 110-page policy statement of the Democrats is titled the “Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force Recommendations.” They released it jointly and worked on it jointly along with six task forces appointed by each. Enough said.

As a typical lefty, you resorted to calling me names instead of just attacking the message.  I will not return the favor because I see life differently and thank God there are people just like me who treat others with respect
