Readers Write: For letter-writer, GOP can do no wrong

The Island Now

I am commenting on Mr. Katz’s letter in your Nov. 15 edition, describing the effect of “Anti-Trump Fervor…” on recent Port Washington elections.

Mr. Katz has spent the last year writing (mostly) civil letters dealing with Port Washington schools. His prejudice against women in the workplace was a major flaw therein.

However, in his recent letter, his emotions finally got the best of him. After smearing every currently elected North Hempstead officeholder, an officeholder from six years ago, a state senator from Great Neck, and some contributors to a political party (all Democrats), he then laments “one-party control of any government, for an extended period of time”.

While a resident of the Town of North Hempstead, he is also a Nassau County resident. Somehow, he ignored politics in the Towns of Hempstead and Oyster Bay (which contain three-quarters of Nassau’s population), where corruption has been rampant while being controlled by Republicans for decades– e.g., 112 of the last 114 years in Town of Hempstead!

Would that his anxieties and lamentations extended to Nassau County!!

Lastly, he states that anti-Trump fervor “borders on religious fanaticism.” I put forward the thought that the actual religious fanaticism seems to reside with Trump’s evangelical followers.
