Readers Write: Great Neck Plaza officials asleep at the wheel

The Island Now

On May 21, Gov. Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.32, by virtue of the authority vested in him by Section 925-a of the Real Estate Property Tax law. The order states that upon request of the chief executive officer of an affected county, city, town, village or school district, the period for paying property taxes will be extended by 21 days without interest or penalty during a state disaster emergency.

The governor’s executive order has currently granted property tax payment extensions to almost 70 villages and towns in New York State, including 15 in Nassau County and four in the Great Neck villages of Great Neck, Great Neck Estates, Kings Point, and Russell Gardens.

Why didn’t the Celender/Rosen administration of the Village of Great Neck Plaza request an extension?

Where were they and what are they doing?

Their lack of concern for their residents and local businesses is unacceptable.
