Readers Write: Health commish appears to be misleading on PPEs

The Island Now

As reported, Dr. Howard Zucker, New York’s health commissioner, spoke during a virtual state legislative hearing on the impact of COVID-19.

He told lawmakers that reports about lack of protective gear weren’t facts.

Now, why were nurses wearing garbage bags in photographs sent out to the media, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic? This was a statement that they needed PPEs.

Now these doctors, nurses and other medical personnel are on the front lines trying to save lives, and need to be protective.

Added to that many people have died including some doctors, nurses and other medical technicians. These brave souls gave their lives saving lives. As such they deserved the PPE at the start of the pandemic, although they have it now.

The question in my mind is who is telling the truth? In my opinion, I believe these dedicated nurses are telling the truth. There seems to be a coverup on the highest level of government.

Let me point out that in New York there were 32,857 deaths, the largest in the country.

I am appalled and distressed if there was wrongdoing during this pandemic. So many lives had been lost and maybe could have been prevented.

Let me also mention my wife and myself have just been tested for the COVID-19, the results came back we are negative, thank God.
