Readers Write: Tax relief for medical workers

The Island Now

From my perspective as a caretaker for elderly parents, one with advance dementia and the other with copious comorbidity, workers in the profession are both noble and very underpaid. Often relying on the failing transit systems adds salt to that wound.

The least we could do for these people who take care of our sick family the elderly parents is offer tax relief from federal state and local taxes. The offset would be minuscule.

The upsides would be to attract more workers needed and create more compassion training programs and give these hardest working among us respect.
