Readers Write: Judge Fairgrieve knowledgeable in law, community

The Island Now

We are writing to request that the Mineola Community support the election of Judge Scott Fairgrieve for the position of Mineola Village Justice.

Judge Scott Fairgrieve has served 20 years in the Nassau County District Court, during which time he has authored more than published legal 300 decisions. He has earned the reputation of being fair and thorough. Before becoming a district court judge he practiced law as a private practitioner for 24 years.

Judge Fairgrieve must retire as a Nassau County District Court Judge because the New York State Constitution sets age limits on sitting full-time judges. There is no age limit for the part-time position of Mineola Village Justice.

Scott has been extremely dedicated to the Mineola Community and the legal profession since we have known him for over 35 years. Examples include:

  • Acting county court judge since 2010
  • Adjunct professor of business law at LIU Post
  • Board member and speaker chairman of the County Seat Kiwanis
  • Co-chairperson of the Mineola Bicycle Safety Day
  • Trustee of the Nassau County Historical Society and Mineola Historical Society
  • Public Speaking Advocate on the dangers of intoxicated driving, speeding, using fake I.D.s, etc.
  • Served 12 years as Mineola Village trustee

Please vote for Judge Scott Fairgrieve on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Mineola Village Hall between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
