Readers Write: Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton and $3M facelift for Manorhaven Boulevard

The Island Now

Several years ago, Deputy Mayor von Roeschlaub and I met with Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton to request funding for bus shelters, benches and other amenities for Manorhaven Boulevard.

Since the boulevard is a county road and there was already $1 million in the county budget to repave it, Delia decided to add an additional $2 million to the budget so that Port’s second main street and the Village’s only major road could be completely transformed.

The project is underway and public meetings have and will continue to gain input from residents before plans are finalized.

Although Delia is not a resident of Port Washington, her obvious devotion to and appreciation of our beautiful waterfront community is very evident from this and other significant projects in Port Washington.

For this and many other reasons, I hope you’ll agree that she is an outstanding legislator to represent Port and Legislative District 11. I hope you’ll join me in casting your vote for her on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
