Readers Write: Criticizing Markowitz a disservice to community

The Island Now

As the bipartisan, global advocate for the Jewish people, AJC has too often seen legitimate political debates regarding issues of public policy hijacked into mean-spirited personal attacks and political squabbles.

It does not serve the common good to indulge in the type of bickering and character assassination as has been leveled against Steve Markowitz following the recent political contest in Great Neck.

On numerous occasions, Steve has proven himself to be a champion of western democratic values while giving freely of his time and talent to the community.

Accusations of a divisive religious nature do nothing to advance the public, political discourse. Engaging in a campaign of slander against Steve Markowitz is a waste of time and says more about the accusers than the accused.
