Readers Write: Sima Vasa the right choice for Port library board

The Island Now

I am writing to encourage all registered voters in the Port Washington Library District to support Sima Vasa in the upcoming Library Board election on April 10.

Sima is a person of honesty, intelligence, and compassion. She also has a keen business sense that has been honed over 20 years of professional experience, including as president of the NPD Group and at IBM, where she began her career.

More recently, Sima has been an entrepreneur and investor in digital technology start-up companies.

Sima owns a business in Port Washington that has, thanks to her technological expertise, a global reach.  She also serves as a director on the Boards of three organizations and has been recognized nationally as an expert in technology trends and market research

Sima and husband have made Port Washington their home for over 15 years.  The mother of two daughters, she is known in Port Washington as a Girl Scout leader for more than eight years and as the co-chair of Sousa Elementary School’s Green Committee for more than seven years.

On a personal note, Sima and her remarkable family were among my first friends in Port Washington.  My children and Sima’s younger daughter attend Sousa together.

Over the years, morning conversations at the bus stop have made me aware of her devotion to our public library and her desire to be a guardian for this precious resource in our wonderful, diverse, community.

I believe strongly that Sima’s business acumen and technological expertise will help maintain our library’s tradition of excellence and help it to grow in the digital age
