Readers Write: Turner supports Gounaris, Zanetti for Herricks school board

The Island Now

I am writing to ask friends and neighbors in the Herricks School District to please join me in supporting two quality incumbent candidates for the Herricks Board of Education, James Gounaris and Henry Zanetti.

Jim will be running for his fourth term and has a wealth of experience on all issues that a school district faces.  While on the board he served as both president and vice president during his nine years.  He has four children, three who have graduated and one currently attending Herricks High School.  Throughout his children’s years he and his wife Georgia were involved in PTA, Athletic Boosters, and a myriad of district committees.  He has lived in the district for 21 years.

Henry Zanetti likewise has been an active member in this community especially with PTA, Music Boosters and on legislative committees.  As a past 27-year board member myself who retired in 2017, I approached Henry to run for the board and was thrilled when he did. He brought so many years of invaluable experience to the table.  He has two children, one a graduate of the district and a son in the high School.  He and his wife have supported PTA and community functions for years.  Henry has lived in Williston Park for 20 years.

In difficult times, it is especially important to have experienced people on a school board. Both of these men are assets to our school district and should be re-elected.  They have upgraded and improved our district while respecting taxpayer dollars.

Our voting will look different this year because of Covid19, so please look out for ballots which will be mailed to your home and arrive on May 28 or 29 and make sure to return them by June 9.  Every Vote Counts!
