Readers Write: Vasa: ‘Accomplished’ businesswoman, leader

The Island Now

I am writing to invite my neighbors and friends in Port Washington to join me in supporting of Sima Vasa for the position of library trustee in the election on April 10.

Sima is an accomplished businesswoman and inspirational leader.

After beginning her career at IBM, Sima went on to serve as President of the NPD Group, an industry leader for data technology solutions.

More recently, Sima and her husband Cyrus have formed their own data technology company in Port Washington and been investors in digital technology start-up companies. Sima also serves as a director on the boards of three organizations and has been recognized nationally as an expert in technology trends.

She hosts her own podcast called “Data Gurus.”

Sima and I have become friends over the past four years.

Our younger daughters attend Sousa Elementary school together and are in the same Girl Scout (Brownies) Troop. Sima is troop leader. As leader, Sima always shows her troop respect and understanding and has nurtured the girls’ thirst for knowledge and desire to help our community.

I have also had the pleasure of working with Sima as part of the Sousa HSA (Home School Association) where she has served as chair of our Green Committee for the past seven years.

Sima always has fresh ideas on how to inspire the students to be Green Leaders at school, at home and in the community.

I believe that Sima’s business expertise, combined with her warm, nurturing personality and dedication to our community is the perfect combination needed to help maintain our library’s tradition of excellence and help it to grow in the future.
