Obama backer: right problem, wrong anwer

The Island Now

Mr. Arthur Finkel,  an obvious Obama-supporter, and I, a Tea Party Conservative, may agree on one  thing:  our country is in a shambles.

In the June 8 issue of the Williston Times, I listed the events of the previous week, after almost four years of President Obama:

1 – unemployment was still 8.2 percent:

2 – May’s GDP was a  minuscule 1.9 percent:

3 – May’s  job growth produced a paltry 69,000 new jobs:

4 – the national debt increased to 1.2 trillion dollars this year alone;

5 – Obama spent 4.1 million dollars for every job he created;

6 – the student loan debt increased to almost one trillion dollars, and finally,

7- in May, the stock market had the most “down days” since 1956.

Finkel responded in the June 15 issue that he did not question the accuracy of my statistics.  He only pointed out how poorly the market did under Bush.

I agree. You  can’t use one month’s statistics. Obama inherited a dismal economic legacy. Sure, the equity markets have recently done somewhat  better.

But, after four years of Obama, we must agree that our country’s total condition is horrendous.

We have tried four years of Obama.  Enough is enough.

The statute of limitations for Bush is long gone.

 Obama’s economic policies did not work. We must try something new before it’s too late.

As President Obama said four years ago, “if his policies didn’t work, he should be a one-term president.”

In 140 days, I hope the country will hold him to his words.
