Reader’s Write: Tamarin has earned vote of parks users

The Island Now

Some say, “Why bother to vote in the upcoming park district election?” But if you are a park resident who enjoys the tennis, sailing, Great Neck House Programs, country club swimming complex, summer concerts, a safe park for your children to play, hockey, ice skating and countless other programs, then take a few minutes on Dec. 10 to vote.

We have two great commissioners, Bob Lincoln and Dan Nachmanoff, but on Dec. 10 our third commissioner is on the ballot for re-election. Anyone who uses our park facilities knows who that is, the one and only Ruth Tamarin. Two men and one woman, a great combination.

A woman who in the past 15 years has considered Great Neck Park as her second family. Her willingness to listen to all comments from the public and the appreciation and praise she shows to employees of the Great Neck Park District has always been one of her top priorities.

I have seen her on the stage at Steppingstone concerts, a little wisp of a thing, a slight breeze could have blown her away. But it hasn’t, she is here to stay.

Remember the saying, “Old is better than new!” at least in this instance. So, if you care about our wonderful park facilities, think of Ruth Tamarin on Dec. 10 and all that she has contributed before you cast your vote.
