From the desk of Mayor Paul Ehrbar: Thanks for supporting ‘Jump for Life’

The Island Now

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those individuals and families who provided both moral and financial support for my “Jump for Life” last week. The event was exhilarating and through the contributions of many, over $1500 was raised, for my jump, for the Gift of Life charity. Thanks to all.

This past week I was invited to attend the 20th anniversary of the Williston Park YAI Group Home. Yai is a major provider of services and programs for people with developmental disabilities. Attendance at their celebration was both an honor and quite enjoyable. The residents went out of their way to welcome me as a representative of the village. This home provides needed services and I believe it is an asset to our community.

Water Main Flushing: Please be advised that the required annual water main flushing will take place Oct. 9 through Oct. 12.

During the flushing period, you may detect some water pressure fluctuation and water discoloration. Please plan on washing your dishes and clothes after the daily flushing. You may wish to keep a supply of clear water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking during these times of discoloration.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this might or may have already caused.

Neighborhood Watch is in need of additional Block captains. This program is a valuable tool for the residents of Williston Park. Anyone interested please contact Village Hall @ 516-746-2193 or Coordinator Doreen Ehrbar @ 516-747-8219.

Congratulations to Auxiliary Police Commander Jean Tranchina and her husband as they are expecting twins.
