Parker Jewish Institute has begun “window visits” so that residents and their families can spend time together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For these visits, residents are escorted to the windowed area of the indoor lower level cafeteria where they spend time with up to two visitors. The visitors sit on the other side of the glass, outdoors at Parker’s Lower Level Patio.
Parker set up inviting, cabana-style spaces that allow airflow on the patio so that visitors can enjoy family time in comfort while staying safe amid the pandemic. An intercom system is available so that residents and family to facilitate communication during the visit.
Reservations are required for the visits, which are limited to 30 minutes, and take place on weekdays, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. And there are 30-minute intervals in between each visit to allow for safe infection control practices to protect against the virus.
“These visits are so meaningful for residents and their families,” said Michael N. Rosenblut, Parker’s president and CEO. “We’ve established the most stringent guidelines, including physical distancing and mask-wearing, to protect residents, visitors and staff from the coronavirus.”
