Woman struck crossing South Middle Neck Road

A 22-year-old woman pedestrian was struck when crossing South Middle Neck Road in Great Neck at 8:10 a.m. on Monday, leaving her in serious condition.

Detectives say the woman was crossing from east to west when a vehicle traveling north struck her. According to the accident report, the accident occurred “in the vicinity” of Susquehanna Ave.

The 45-year-old male driver remained at the scene.

The woman, who was not identified, was transported to a local hospital and was listed in serious condition, police said.

According to American Hospital Association Guidelines, serious condition means that “vital signs may be unstable” and “indicators are questionable.”

The investigation is ongoing.
