Preschool students use apples to estimate size

Preschool students in Ms. Fitzpatrick’s class at John J. Daly Elementary School have been hard at work with their recent introduction to new math lessons. Students have been practicing estimation and decided to channel the autumn spirit by incorporating apples into lesson plans. The class alternated turns predicting how many apples it takes to equal the height of their classmates. Students put their estimations to the test by placing apples adjacent to their peers and counting each one as they went. To conclude the lesson plans, students utilized their artistic ability to illustrate their findings.

Facilitating an educational atmosphere with creative resources encourages young students to remain engaged with lesson plans. The Port Washington School District strives to instill a passion for learning and knowledge in each of their students beginning at a young age.
