Readers Write: Dems are not moderate, compromising a don’t follow rule of law

The Island Now

Dr. Sobel wrote some things in your June 14 edition that surprised me.

Clearly, we view things from different perspectives and I try to appreciate and respect the point of view of all across the political spectrum.

If Dr. Sobel thinks we need to return to a time when there were moderate and compromising Republicans who respected the rule of law, what does he think of Elizabeth Warren, Cynthia Nixon and Bernie Sanders?

Are they moderate and compromising?

I, of course, agree that everybody should have healthcare and food.

I actually thought that those who need food stamps find them quite accessible.

If Dr. Sobel knows this to be untrue, please cite specific source references. Any decent person would not want anybody in this country to starve or suffer from malnutrition or lack of healthcare.

The rule of law was certainly not followed by Obama.

He concluded the Iran deal by executive order, when in fact it should have been a treaty ratified by Congress. Was that the rule of law?

Lastly, I was astounded to read that Dr. Sobel was actually pained to acknowledge that the stock market was up and unemployment was down.

Does hatred of Trump transcend what is clearly in the best interests of literally millions and millions of Americans?

With so many people who have 401K plans, invest in the stock market and need to work for a living, why on earth would these accomplishments bother any American who wants what is best for our country?
