The Island Now

Over the past four years that Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton has served Port Washington and other communities in Legislative District 11, I have been very impressed with how many projects she has secured funding for, the numerous meetings and events she has attended and how well she has otherwise shown how dedicated she is to Port Washington.

Just a few projects she has secured funding for in Port Washington include $150,000 for renovations to the Port Washington Public Library’s Children’s Library, $3,000,000 to transform Manorhaven Boulevard and $50,000 for a playground in the new Baywalk Park along Shore Road.

Separate from monetary support, Delia is also a staunch advocate for protecting our aquifers and the fresh water they provide, as well as our waterways and environment overall. She submitted legislation that prevents fracking waste products from being used in the County. For several year’s, Delia has worked tirelessly to combat the opioid epidemic by sponsoring Narcan overdose reversal medication training and submitting legislation requiring pharmacies to prominently post signs warning people about opioids addictive properties.

We are very fortunate to have Delia DeRiggi-Whitton represent us in the Nassau County Legislature. She has my vote for re-election on Nov. 7.
