Readers Write: Noone, Sabino and Turano right for Munsey Park

The Island Now

For the third time in five years, the elections in the Village of Munsey Park are once again contested.

We urge the residents of the Village of Munsey Park to show their support for the Residents for a Better Munsey Park by casting their vote on Election Day for Jennifer Noone, Anthony Sabino and John Turano.

Jennifer Noone is running for a third term as village trustee. Incumbent Trustee Jennifer Noone has served the village for five years.

She is a dedicated resident of the village, and has donated her personal time and expertise first as a member of the architectural review board and subsequently as a village trustee. During her tenure, she has dedicated her time to take on various projects throughout the Village.

Jennifer is currently working on the Hawthorne Place/North
Eakins road repaving project that will be completed this spring.  She completed the repaving of Inness Place, the intersection of MWR and Bellows, Burnham Circle, Allston Circle, parts of Abbey, Stuart, Eakins, and Kensett to name a few.

She is constantly on village streets evaluating and overseeing all road issues, initiating road repairs to fix decaying curbs and sections of the street to improve the safety of village roads; accomplishing all of this in spite of the village paying off the 2007 $2.75 million road bond, approximately $300,000 a year.

She creatively uses state funds, current cash flow and applies for state and municipal grants to balance the debt burden.

Jennifer also initiated the comprehensive road study and ratings map, helped organize and complete the Waldmann beautification project, installed a new sidewalk outside the main entrance to Munsey Park School and is working on the walkway project to connect the Congregational lot to Munsey Park School.

Anthony Sabino is running for Village Trustee.

He has volunteered on the architectural review board for the past five years. Mr. Sabino has balanced the rights of property owners and the aesthetics of the Village. He has assured that residents are treated with respect and accorded due process when presenting their building plans to the village.

He was also appointed to the village Board of Ethics and is already drafting a set of “best practices” for ethics in Village government. In addition to his law practice, Anthony is a Professor of Law at St. John’s University and is frequently quoted in the media on important business and legal issues. He is a member of the board of directors of the Manhasset Community Fund, holds various positions with the Nassau County Bar Association, and is active with other professional groups.

John Turano is the incumbent village justice. He has practiced law for the past 48 years. He has served the village as its Justice for the past 14 years.

He brings to the office his prior experience as an assistant district attorney, deputy town attorney for the Town of North Hempstead, and prosecuting attorney for the villages of Lake Success and New Hyde Park.

Through his efforts, he recently improved the functionality of the village court by streamlining its function and combining arraignments, conferences and trials into one evening session as well as arranging to allow fines to be paid by credit card.

In his courtroom, all are treated fairly and with respect. In addition to his experience, John has the temperament to best serve the people of Munsey Park as their village justice.

Please join me in supporting the continued commitment of Jennifer Noone, Anthony Sabino and John Turano to the Village by voting for them on Tuesday, March 20 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Hall
