Readers Write: Teen drivers’ texting troubles

The Island Now

Two out of 5 teenagers admitted to texting while driving in a youth risk behavior survey published in the Journal of Adolescent Health from 2015.

These numbers are low estimates because the survey only asked about texting and emailing and not the other ways a cell phone can be used.

Our system of teaching kids to drive is a complete failure. Parents are the worst examples and have themselves to blame.

Social media is a contributing factor and more deaths and serious accidents are expected. We can also expect to see the flowers and the crosses on trees everywhere soon.
