Readers Write: The Ed. Foundation thanks the community

The Island Now

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for The Ed. Foundation, when we celebrated our Sweet Sixteen with a sold-out event honoring the seven Port Washington school principals. Highlights from the evening included a capacity crowd, a video tribute to the honorees, and a special performance by the talented Schreiber a cappella group. H on the Harbor set the tone in their festive space, with a signature menu of beautifully presented food and drinks.

To me, the real highlight was the spirit of collaboration that permeated every aspect of the event.

Leaders from every HSA stepped up and joined our party committee, working with the event chairs to bring a new level of representation to the foundation – from all seven schools!

They helped spread the word about the party, gathering raffle prizes, journal ads, and personalized video clips to make sure each of the principals felt the love.

It was such a pleasure to work with this dedicated group of volunteers, who clearly share our mission of enhancing public education in Port Washington.

We so appreciate the support of the school district administration and staff, many of whom attended the event, placed journal ads, and recorded video clips about their principals.

Our silent auction and raffles were also very successful, thanks to the generosity of local merchants who donated fabulous items, experiences, and services.

The Sweet Sixteen was an enormous success because it was a true team effort.

On behalf of the board, the advisory board, and of course, our junior board, I express our deepest gratitude to everyone who worked on the event, to everyone who supported it in countless ways, and of course, to all who attended.

And of course, we thank our seven esteemed principals for allowing us to honor them!

Our Sweet Sixteen was a night to remember, and we are extremely grateful.
