Moonlight Swan by Stephen Cipot

“Time in Sleep”

Tonight I watched the circle moon,
the field wore moonlight gracefully,
so too the mirror lake without a hint of cleverness.
The secret is the fine lunar lace, a most
delicate embroidery, without no one is truly rich.

An easy smile drew across my face.
How do I put this on a scale, should I imagine
a fresh snow-covered landscape,
downy flake falling on cedar,
a white swan braiding the gentle water… .

No, a dream, each carefree moment approaches
and passes more beautiful, the reflection
of time in my sleep. But you must close
your eyes to know and fancy such peace.
I carry my share many times over.
