Readers Write: Turano brings strong legal background to Munsey Park

The Island Now

I am writing to support the re-election of the Honorable John Turano to Village Court Justice of Munsey Park.

My wife and I have resided in Munsey Park for over forty years and I have known John since 1969.

John became an assistant district attorney in Queens County in 1969.  I had left that office the previous year.

I had the experience of observing John from the other side; from the perspective of a defense attorney.

He was well respected as a tough but just and fair-minded prosecutor.

After he left the district attorney’s office, John has been a deputy attorney for the Town of North Hempstead, a prosecutor for the Villages of Lake Success and New Hyde Park as well as engaging in private practice.

He has also faithfully served as our Village Justice for the past 14 years.

Through the years I have known John, our paths have often crossed many times in the courtrooms and at various meetings and functions of professional organizations.

I can attest to his reputation as an honest, highly skilled attorney with a wide knowledge of the law who enjoys the utmost respect of the members of our profession.

By virtue of his experience, background, integrity and work ethic, John is highly qualified for Munsey Park Village Court Justice.  He has served in that capacity for over 14 years and it would be our loss if he was not re-elected on March 20.

Joseph Filardi, Esq.

Munsey Park
