Readers Write: A peaceful attack, the truth! Two sides of the story.

The Island Now

I watched a CNN two-hour Special Report that covered a reporter who conducted interviews with the so-called rioters who broke into the Capitol on January 6th and heard their sides of the story.

Frankly, I have to agree with them. As they say, everything was peaceful. They were invited inside the Capitol by the Capitol police and walked around as if they were tourists. The staff members of the senators and congressional representatives simply misread and overreacted to the noises that were coming from the halls.

There was absolutely no reason for them to blockade doors to prevent the visitors from entering. All the visitors wanted to do was to tell them what good jobs they were doing. Chanting names such as “Nancy” and “Pence reflected that very same intention.

Actually, the so-called rioters were there to protect the representatives from others based upon information that they had actually received from the FBI. They were simply doing what all good patriotic Americans should do; protecting the Capitol from those who were looking to destroy it and, they were doing it peacefully.

According to reports from Fox News, there were 3 million in attendance and the fact that so little damage was done is a tribute to those who came to protect the Capitol

More kudos to them based upon the fact that these Republican patriots handled themselves so well considering that the presidential election was stolen from right under their own noses. Those who label this as an insurrection should rightfully refer to it as doing one’s patriotic duty.

Since “equality” is the name of America, I propose that on July 4th, millions of people from the opposing side, namely those liberal socialist democrats, should gather and protest in the same civil manner as their Republican friends outside the winter White House, the national historic landmark in Palm Beach Fla. known as Mar-a- Lago, currently owned and resided in by our real president, Donald Trump.

These Democratic protesters should be afforded the same opportunity given to their Republican counterparts.

In reality, since the “former” president receives an annual pension, an office staff and round the clock Secret Service personal protection, all paid for by we the people, these protesters should be allowed to check out the residence, both inside and out, question the office staff and ensure that the members of the Secret Service are doing their jobs and these protesters should check it out in the same manner as the Republican protesters did in protecting the Capitol.

Trump, of course, will join in and participate in this form of this getting-even-type celebration.

Others attending this protest will include Andrews S. Clyde, the Republican congressman from Georgia, who refused to shake hands with Washington, D.C. police officer, Michael Fanone, who was supposedly assaulted by the peaceful protesters at the Capitol.

Guest speakers will include former Vice President, Mike Pence, who suggested that he speak from gallows specially built for this occasion, and House Majority Leader, Nancy Pelosi, who for security reasons will speak to the crowd from the inside of a tank, in control of large-caliber high-velocity guns, capable of firing kinetic energy penetrators, high explosive anti-tank and cannon-launched guided projectiles, just in case she hears her name being chanted from inside Mar-a-Lago.

Of course, the Capitol Police singing choir will be on hand to perform a medley of songs celebrating the recovery of the 81 Capitol Police officers who were assaulted accidentally during the peaceful protest and the 65 D.C. police officers who were also injured coming to their rescue.

Putting everything in perspective will be the filmed remarks made by the Senate Minority leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky who said “the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6th was “fed lies” and provoked by the president’ and others into violence”.

Demanding equal time, House GOP leader, Kevin McCarthy, will present what he said on the House floor as recorded, that called on President Donald Trump to “immediately denounce the mob when he saw what was unfolding, accept his share of responsibility for the violence that overtook the U.S. Capitol” and urged Republicans to “accept that Joe Biden is the next leader of the nation”
