Readers Write: Biden blows Afghan evacuation

The Island Now

The title of your Viewpoint Column on Aug. 20 was “Biden makes necessary adjustments to evacuate from Afghanistan.” Nothing could be further from the truth.

On Friday, at one of his tightly controlled press conferences, with selected questions from a very small number of stooge journalists, he lied, obfuscated and acted just plain confused.  He said that people could get to the airport safely with the help of the Taliban, he stated that foreign governments did not have a negative outlook on his handling of the Afghan evacuation and that there was no indication that anyone had been injured on their way to the airport.

What planet is this man living on?  There is video after video of injured souls and story after story of checkpoints where people are being abused, having their papers and passports stolen and are prevented from making their way to the airport. Everything he said was a lie.  Even his own generals and spokespeople have contradicted him.  They have all stated that he was informed of the danger of Kabul and the country falling imminently and he ignored all the warnings.

Your writer calls Trump’s deal with the Taliban a “sham deal.” Let me enlighten her and the rest of you. Kash Patel (see editor’s note) served as chief of staff for the Department of Defense and as deputy assistant to the president for counter terrorism in the Trump administration. The following is his description of the deal that Trump made with the Taliban after he was instructed to “arrange a conditions-based, methodical exit plan that would preserve the national interest:”

“The Afghan government and the Taliban were both told they would face the full force of the U.S. military if they caused any harm to Americans or American interests in Afghanistan.  Both parties would negotiate to create an interim joint government, and both sides had to repudiate al Qaeda. Lastly, a small special operations force would be stationed in the country to take direct action against any terrorist threats that arose.  When all those conditions were met along with cascading conditions, then a withdrawal could and did begin.”

There were multiple meetings between President Ashraf Ghani and the Taliban. (quotes taken from NY Post article of Aug. 20) Does anyone think that Trump would be a party to this grotesque evacuation fiasco without taking immediate action to show who was in control? Do you think he would have given up the air base and all of that equipment so the enemy could use it at will or sell it to our enemies?

Trump was not re-elected so as of Jan. 6, 2021, he had no control over any of these negotiations or actions taken.

On Friday Biden said he would “do everything, everything we can to provide safe evacuation and we will get you home”

Today is Sunday,  crickets are chirping, no plan, no action, no more troops, no nothing.  In the meantime, people are being hunted down, many are being tortured and killed, one Afghan woman was set on fire because the Taliban animal she was forced to cook for did not like her cooking.  Blood is being spilled, Joe, and every day that you sit there in your somnambulist
state the danger of American blood and those of Afghans who helped us is in danger of being spilled.

It will all be on your hands if you do not ACT NOW.  The average guy on the street could have planned this evacuation better than you and your cronies.  If conditions are not rectified, this will be a stain on Biden, his whole administration and on America for decades to come.

Our borders are open and out of control, inflation is rising, crime is rampant, our children are being brainwashed with Critical Race Theory (anti-white racism) and now this.  Welcome to the destructive leadership of the Democratic Party.

Kash Patel, a Garden City native and Trump loyalist, became a high-level White House staffer who repeatedly challenged the nation’s intelligence agencies to release information to exonerate President Trump from criticism leveled by his opponents.
