Readers Write: Hyperbole, hypocrisy with a capital H

The Island Now

As a life long Republican, it is my duty to address the vitriol of one of your Viewpoint columns in today’s paper.  Week after week this writer spews her venom and goes unchallenged but that is going to change today.

In 2016, my vote was a write-in for another GOP candidate as I did not like what I saw in the GOP debates.  Donald Trump was calling people names, ridiculing their looks and acting like a child of 10.

He won the primary and to my surprise , the Presidency of the United States.  I see him with all of his warts, I have cringed many times in the past four years but agree with most of his policies and consider them successful.

The twisting of facts by this writer and the down right lies have got to be addressed.

“Extorting Ukraine” is the first distortion.  Donald Trump was framed by the Obama administration and the FBI.  It is not hyperbole, it is fact and Rudy Giuliani went overseas to gather facts about that case and went to get the real story from the source about the Bidens.

The quid pro quo crime was actually carried out by Joe Biden, all on tape, and in the end, the corruption was true and his son is now being investigated for money laundering.

Trump was right. The press cover-up before the election is just part of the crooked events that surround it.

“Turning Covid into the ultimate weapon for voter suppression.”  Bologna. The absentee ballot has been around my entire life and is there for the taking.  The minute the Democrats sent their lawyers to change the rules, eliminate signature and postmark checks, I knew the fix was in.

I did not need Trump to tell me.  Hundred of affidavits signed under threat of perjury. Without the power of the courts to investigate allegations thoroughly nothing can be proved or disproved.  That was one of the goals of Ted Cruz and others, to appoint a commission to do a complete investigation.

“Promoting violent reprisals against peaceful protesters.  You have got to be kidding. Where have you been for the last eight months, under a rock?  Let’s just go through the Washington D.C. “peaceful protest” after they tried to burn down the church in Lafayette Park.  Mixed in with all of the “peacefuls” were your leftist anarchists, BLM, Antifa and the rest of the left-wing hoodlums.

They had frozen water bottles stashed, bricks and other projectiles and would not clear the area when asked.

City after city attacked, looted, murders committed, arson, innocent victims and police beaten and none of these were White Supremacists, Proud Boys or any of the others that you named in your rant ridden soliloquy.

Don’t believe me, go to youtube and pull up the hours of videotape and watch them for yourself. Do not try to pin this on Trump.  Your Democratic, irresponsible governors and Mayors allowed it to happen and destroyed the lives of their citizens.

They should hang their heads in shame and all should be impeached!

“The Deplorables.” You are full of hateful hyperbole.  Thousands upon thousands of Trump’s base have attended rallies, all were peaceful.  His base is the average man on the street, hard-working, decent and family-oriented.

There are fringes of both parties that do not represent the majority and a brilliant woman like you should know that. They have values, value life, liberty and freedom of speech.  Your Christo-fascist dig says more about you than it does about Trump supporters.

You could use a little humility and Christian love in your soul.  You see no good, only evil.  Where you got the idea that Republicans are poor, neglected ( and you had to throw in white because you are racist to the core) white people escapes me.

I would say a person who is for killing a baby at nine months gestation or letting it die afterward is about as deplorable as you can get.

I would say that continuing to tell minority groups that they cannot make it in this country and that all is stacked against them is deplorable. I would say that going around the country and destroying city after city and destroying people’s lives is deplorable.  I would say that spewing venom and distortion week after week is deplorable.

The attack on the Capitol last week was planned in advance and not by the Trump supporters who were at his speech.  In fact, the attack began while Trump was still speaking.

It was a 45-minute walk from the speech area to the Capitol.  The Capitol law enforcement knew that there were threats of violence as they had gathered  info from the internet but they didn’t take it seriously.

The D.C. police chief was worried about the size of the crowd in the city and had requested National Guard backup, he was denied.  The thugs were far-right anarchists and trouble makers and should all be locked up and the key thrown away.

That is the difference between us.  Kamala Harris was part of a group bailing out BLM rioters and other low lives who were rampaging across the country. Now that is deplorable.

“Provoking War with Iran” is laughable. Even after giving them billions in the dark of night, the Iranians took our Sailors hostage and continued to chant “death to America”.  Obama thought he could coddle these ideologically twisted radicals into behaving and changing their outlook.

It was a joke.  Behind the scenes, they were allowed to collect their own soil samples for testing and denied the IAEA the right to survey their military installations.

Only a fool would trust a country like this.  Sanctions and punishing their terrorist leaders has diminished their power greatly and might have succeeded in change if more time was given. Peace through strength not capitulation.

The Iran deal was a fiasco from the start and in five more years they can build a nuclear weapon with impunity.  There was no war.
