Readers Write: Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton is very supportive of veterans

The Island Now

Over the past several years that I have known Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, time and time again she has shown a deep and genuine level of caring and tremendous respect for veterans.

Holding a seat on the board of Nassau County Veterans, I know that Delia has also met several times with our board to explore options for renovations of halls through grants from Home Depot’s Project Post.

This initiative by Home Depot selects a VFW Post and, not only provides all of the materials needed for a renovation but also helps to secure contractors to get the work done.

Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton also worked with my fellow members of the VFW Post and me to secure funds through the American Cares Act. Through the American Cares Act and Home Depot’s Project Post initiative, our Post will receive two new bathrooms, a paved parking lot, striping, and a basketball hoop for neighborhood kids to use.

I feel that Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton is very deserving of our votes and hope you will join me in re-electing her on November 2.
