I was recently requested by a group of park district residents to do a formal evaluation of this year’s Great Neck park commissioner candidates. After reading through candidate statements, social media posts, websites and conducting interviews with each candidate individually, I authored a seven-page report which I presented to each candidate.
In short, there is no shortage of qualified candidates in this years election. Each is determined and committed to the task. That being said, there is one candidate that stands out. This candidate has experience in all of the following areas: Dealing with budgets the size of the park district’s, working effectively with various local boards, and a superior knowledge of the district’s many facilities.
Owing to this, Grace McGirr is the preferred candidate.
